Are people overpaying for real estate in the Seattle market?
Lately, more and more people are asking, “Should I sell my home in the fall?”
This question addresses a common misconception that after the spring and summer markets are over, the Seattle real estate market comes to a screeching halt, which is far from the truth.
There are three main reasons why you might want to consider selling your home this fall:
1. You will face less competition. Inventory is low now, but it will be even lower in the fall. After all, most people who are thinking of selling their homes tend to say, “I’ll wait until next spring or summer.” Would you rather be one of many sellers entering the market in the spring or one of the few entering the market in the fall? Ultimately, less competition means more money for you.
2. Buyers are more motivated in the fall. They might have been missing out on homes during the spring and summer, when multiple offer situations are common. Maybe they are trying to get into a certain school district, or they want to get into their home before the holidays. Some people may simply want to get into their own home before they have to renew their lease and pay more in rent. No matter the reason, buyers tend to be more motivated this time of year.
3. Seattle is absolutely gorgeous in the fall. Fall is a phenomenal time to take photos of your home, which can only help your marketing.
