There are four common myths that prevent people from starting the home buying or selling process:
1. You have to pay for a consultation. That is not true. You can set up a meeting in my office or do the consultation over Skype or FaceTime at no cost to you. We will go over your questions and concerns so that when the consultation is over, you know what your next step will look like.
2. You need to go in alone to avoid paying commissions. If you are a buyer, you should know that the seller has already agreed to pay the real estate commission. So, why not hire an agent to help you find your house? As your agent, I’ll draft offers, run comparables, and coordinate with the vendors to make the buying process as smooth as possible.
3. You don’t need an agent to sell your home. Brokers and agents sell houses for more money in a shorter amount of time than you can on your own. As real estate agents, we will pay for all of the marketing, including photography, 3-D imaging, and staging in order to sell your home for top dollar.
4. It’s too early to plan your move. Even if you are a year away from buying or selling a home, it is never too early to start planning. Whether you are buying or selling a home, it’s important to understand what’s happening in the market. Remember, even the smallest change in interest rates will affect your mortgage payment for the next 30 years as a buyer.
